First of all,  I have 5-10 minute "skull sessions" at the end of every class designed to get the students to think like Christian martial artists and not just martial artists who are Christians. I like to use lots of questions here rather than just preach at them.

Secondly, my curriculum has Bible verses to be learned for each rank. These especially include ones on glorifying God for our abilities (Ps. 144:1-2, 1 Cor. 10:31, Matt. 23:10-12), designed to short-circuit pride; spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:10-18, etc.); and the Biblical view of fighting and
self-defense (Prov. 24:10-12, Prov. 15:1, John 2:13-16, etc.) If you are interested in how I teach these, the Gospel Martial Arts Union has just published my pamphlet, "Christian Philosophy of Self Defense" which you can order from them. Or, I would be willing to send you the manuscript by e-mail (specify MS Word, Wordperfect or text file, please). My curriculum also has reading assignments such as this pamphlet, though there is very little in print from a Christian viewpoint.

Thirdly, starting at 3rd brown, students are required to write short papers on the Christian and martial arts for their rank.

Fourthly, when they pass a rank and get their certificates, the students must understand and sign the following pledge:
    1. To always practice my martial art to the glory of the only true God and His son, Jesus Christ.
    2. To never use my martial art for the purpose of glorifying myself.
    3. To only use my martial art for defense, never for attack.
    4. To defend with my martial art my family and the weak and helpless as well as myself.
