Edward D. Lacey III's personal testimony:

I was fortunate to grow up in a Godly, Christian home and I had a drug problem... every time the church opened its doors, I was drug there!  At the age of 13, on a church youth trip, I was witnessed to by peers of my own age.  I was extremely convicted of my sins in what I can only describe as devine conviction.  I prayed to accept Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and as I surrendered myself to Him, and confessed my sins, He sent His Holy Spirit to indwell in me.  I instantly knew freedom from guilt and knew I was washed clean of my sins.

As I grew older, and attended more youth retreats, I heard all kinds of people with all kinds of wonderful testimonies about how they were saved from alcoholism, illicit sexual relations, and drug abuse.  I was almost ashamed of my testimony, because it was not as spectacular as some. However, God has shown me that just as many angels rejoiced at my salvation as did for any other, and that my soul is just as precious to Him as any other.

Since my youth, I have truly known what it means in the scripture, "train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" (my paraphrased edition).  Now that I have children of my own, and work with children of others on youth trips at the church, God has been gracious enough to continue to teach me, and to talk to me, through daily experiences with these youth.  He constantly uses my relationship with them to demonstrate my relationship with Him.  (I'm kinda like Gomer I guess). I believe that the Word of God is without error, and is man written, God inspired, God breathed, Word of God.  I have witnessed modern day miracles of healing, and prayed for many who did not receive healing.  I believe in Grace, but will never fully comprehend the concept or motivation other than "It's a God thing".

I believe that Jesus Christ is the literal son of God through immaculate conception and that he walked the earth, fully human and fully God.  He was, is , and is to come.  He was slain at the foundation of the earth, prior to creation.

I believe that the sin of man crucified my savior, and that he willingly died on the cross for me, a sinner totally unworthy of His saving Grace.  He died on the cross only to rise again.  He ascended to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to be with us as a Bride Price until He comes again as the Bride Groom to be reunited with His Church.  The church consists of all those who are in Him, regardless of denomination.

I am more than glad to be considered to belong to a group of fellow believers, no matter what their other affiliations are.  "So as Iron sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another".

Have a great day
Edward Lacey
